The Akbash has a double coat. The undercoat is dense and soft, the outercoat consists of longer, coarse hair. The Akbash's coat comes in two different lengths: Medium or long. The medium coat is flat and gives the Akbash a sleek appearance. The long coat is often wavy, never curly, with pronounced undercoat.
